It's no secret that one of my favorite eyeshadow brands is Anastasia Beverly Hills. ABH is cruelty free and while it's not drugstore prices, it's on par with other brands available at Sephora, and sometimes even more affordable than their competitors. Soft Glam is their newest eyeshadow palette that is following two palettes that were widely hated, so let's talk about it!
Soft Glam is a gorgeous neutral palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills. The name of the palette totally describes it but can also be misleading. Its name makes it sound as if the looks you do with this palette would be light, natural, slightly glam and this is true. It's also true that you can create intense smokey eyes and seriously glam looks. I really love that about Soft Glam.
Before Soft Glam, Prism and Subculture were born. I honestly didn't hear much about Prism and I didn't purchase it because it just didn't grab me. Subculture has to be the most controversial and universally hated palette in the history of makeup, but I liked it. I love the colors and it's so pigmented, but with that comes a higher skill level needed to properly utilize the palette. Soft Glam was advertised as having the same formula as Modern Renaissance, which is a widely loved cult favorite.
The packaging of Soft Glam is the same as these other palettes. It's the soft, velvety packaging, but in a warm beige tone. I love it and hate it because it gets so dirty and it's difficult to clean. Aside from that, it's nice. It's sturdy enough and I definitely trust it to travel.
There are 14 shades in this palette and 9 are matte. Some of these shades are new but others are existing shadows. This isn't an issue for me as I appreciate having all of my go-to neutrals in one place. Anytime I can get away with one palette for travel, I approve.
Let's discuss these shades:
- TEMPERA (MATTE BEIGE)
- GLISTENING (IRIDESCENT GOLD W/ PINK REFLECTS)
- ORANGE SODA (MATTE PASTEL PEACH)
- ROSE PINK (ROSE GOLD WITH SOFT PINK IRIDESCENT HUE)
- SULTRY (SATIN-METALLIC WARM CHOCOLATE BROWN)
- BRONZE (METALLIC GOLD BRONZE)
- MULBERRY (MATTE BURGUNDY)
- DUSTY ROSE (MATTE DUSTY LILAC)
- FAIRY (MULTI-DIMENSIONAL LIGHT GOLD)
- BURNT ORANGE (MATTE DEEP ORANGE)
- SIENNA (MATTE EARTHY BROWN)
- RUSTIC (MATTE DEEP CINNAMON BROWN)
- CYPRESS UMBER (MATTE DARK COFFEE)
- NOIR (MATTE CARBON BLACK)
The formula of these shadows is supposed to be the same as Modern Renaissance. I can confirm that this is true. These shadows are the slightest bit powdery due to their softness, but it's the exact same consistency as Modern Renaissance. The shadows perform just as well as those in Modern Renaissance, and these palettes look gorgeous when used together. Tempera, Burnt Orange, and Cypress Umber are also in the Modern Renaissance palette.
This is a standalone palette, which is something we don't see often anymore. It's also very versatile. You can use this for the lightest, most natural looks to the deepest, smokiest eyes.
Overall, I absolutely approve of this palette. I'm normally into colors and intense shadow looks, but I'm so obsessed with this palette. I love its versatility and the different tones available.
You can purchase this palette for $42 from Ulta, Sephora, ABH Website, and Beautylish.

I feel the same way - I don't have any problem with the universally loved existing neutrals being in this palette. BTW, I have seriously been loving the looks you've been putting up the past few months on IG. Nice work!!
ReplyDeleteI got Prism in my Beautylish Lucky bag in January, and as a redhead, the shades really suited me. I love the look of this palette, but I feel like I have many of the shades in other palettes so I will reluctantly pass.
ReplyDeleteI have quite a few ABH single shadows and I love the way they look but they are more powdery than any other shadows I own. My face is usually covered with shadow dust after I do my eyes. But I know to do my eyes first and then apply facial products. I think this is a beautiful palette but I doubt I'll end up buying it.
ReplyDeleteThe more I see this palette, the more I want it! Gah!
ReplyDeleteThese look like some good must-have shades.
ReplyDeleteI like all the neutrals in this one!
ReplyDeleteSo many look options with these!!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a pretty palette. I still don't own any ABH but both Soft Glam and Subculture are my speed.
ReplyDeleteIt might be a little light for me, but I do love the range they give you!
ReplyDeleteThat sultry shadow is WOW!
ReplyDeleteI think I like the combination of colors best in this one.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many beautiful palettes out right now!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like it's got some great colors in it. I'm not sure I would wear the two orange ones but the other colors are right up my alley.
ReplyDeleteI've been on the fence with this palette after Subculture. As much as I do actually like it, I prefer palettes that let me create looks quickly rather than having to really slow down and take my time. I may have to pick this one up...
ReplyDeleteI don’t have any ABH palette and it’s awful. I love the colors on this
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The Cyprus and Mulberry are my favorites. I bet you could make a wicked look with those and Bronze!
ReplyDeleteI'm still on the fence, I feel like I have these shades already.
