It's pretty well known that I am a lipstick hoarder and I love trying new lipsticks. I've heard mixed reviews on the Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit Matte lipsticks, so I wanted to try one for myself. I was going to grab a few, but honestly, I was skeptical, so I only bought one.

The shade I picked up of the Liquid Catsuit Lipstick is Rebel Rose. It's a beautiful rose-nude shade. I really like that it's not too pink. It has a curved doe-foot applicator. If you've used the Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks, the packaging and applicator are the same.

Rebel Rose is easy to apply. The formula is thin but opaque. There are no streaks and it applies smoothly in one coat. It dries quickly to a matte finish. It stays slightly tacky but doesn't transfer. This lipstick didn't crack, flake, bleed, peel, or any of the other weird things liquid lipsticks do sometimes.

It wore well for around 5 hours. It lasted well through eating and drinking, but it starts to feel really dry after 5 hours. I'm usually good with liquid lipsticks. I use the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask every night, so my lips usually aren't too dry before applying a lipstick. This is the first liquid lipstick I've ever had to remove because it was almost unbearably dry.

Here's what it looks like when you first apply it:

By that point, I had the thing going on where my lips also looked like they had the life sucked out of them, so I now know how that feels.
That being said, I'll still wear this lipstick because it's pretty, the formula isn't bad and I really love the color. I just won't plan to wear it for a long time. I'll be sure to keep it under 4 hours for the safety of my lips.
There are a bunch of other shades, but I probably won't be picking them up. Since I don't really need them and the formula isn't my favorite, I can't really justify it.
I've heard a lot of people rave about this lipstick and the formula, so maybe something in it just doesn't like me. If you've tried it, let me know what you thought of it.
Thanks for reading!

  1. I bought a different color and I completely agree: they are like SPONGES! Never has a matte made my lips feel dry after its already removed.

  3. This shade is pretty, but I'm not sure that I'd want to deal with it is if is both tacky and gets really drying.

  4. Awww, that is a bummer when the formula doesn't cooperate with your body chemistry. :( It is a pretty shade though. PS - your eye brows are looking hot as heck!

  5. I find myself very tolerant of dry liquid lipsticks, especially because for me, the nontransfer effect is almost more important (I kiss my daughters cheeks a lot and don't want to put my lipstick on her!) so I liked the lippie I picked up. However, it's not my fav formula so like you I skipped buying more than one!

    1. I'm the same, I usually can tolerate liquid lips and when I was still taking college classes, I was wearing them everyday for 8+ hours a day and it was fine, but this one is just especially life draining, haha!

  6. This is why I am often scared of liquid lipsticks - some of them can leave me with chapped lips for days!

    1. It's super drying for me. I adore the color so I wear it anyway, but I wear it for shorter periods of time, which can be a pain if you're busy and don't have time to take off a liquid lip and put on something else.

  9. That opacity looks great, I think the drying formula would drive me up the wall too though.

  10. Liquid matte lipsticks can be so hard to wear sometimes, but I think that the longevity and color payoff are so worth it :)

    1. I think that this one in particular just doesn't work as well with my body chemistry and sucks the life out of my lips faster than others. I usually wear the Colourpop Ultra Mattes, Urban Decay Liquid Lips or Kat Von D Liquid Lips for 8+ hours and it's fine but this one really gets me, haha!

  11. I have the same problem with liquid lipsticks. But this color - its really pretty. Something I think I could wear on a daily basis.

  13. I bought this and wasn't crazy about it. I forget which shade I got but it was very streaky. :(

    1. That's what I've heard about a lot of the shades, so I hesitate to buy more.
