Weight Loss

Weight loss Wednesdays are back! I'll have a post related to health, food and weight loss every Wednesday and I'm excited to be writing these again!
In case you missed it, check out my last Fitness Friday post for details on why I'm starting again!

Long story short, I spent 9 months of last year trying to lose weight. About 4-5 months in, I started getting frustrated and slipping up more often and then I started my last term at school, overloaded my classes and didn't have time to religiously go to the gym anymore. I took the entire month of December off, and started again.

For whatever reason, it's extremely difficult for me to lose weight. My thyroid is slightly under-active, but not enough to treat. Simply counting calories does not work for me, at all. I stuck to a 1200 calorie diet in the past for well over a year and never lost a pound. For now, I'm focusing on eating healthier food and trying to cut down on anything processed in hopes that I can eventually cut out all processed food.

So far, I've completely cut out soda, again. I've cut down my sugar intake to almost nothing, other than what is in fruit. I'm drinking a ton of water and tea, unsweetened of course. I prefer the Passion Fruit Green Tea or the Mango-Peach White Tea. Both are great without sugar and the caffeine levels are minimal as I've also cut down my caffeine. I'm down to drinking coffee around once a week as well.

Just from making these few changes, I've dropped the initial 5 pounds I normally drop at first.

I have not been to the gym yet. I cut out caffeine over the past week and as you can imagine, it's left me feeling drained and physically exhausted. Once it's totally out of my system, I'm ready to get back into it. I won't lie though, I'm gonna need some real motivation to get to the gym because it's really cold outside and I hate, and I mean hate winter.

I don't have an end goal in mind. Obviously, I'd love to drop it all overnight, but since that isn't possible, I'm trying to lose it slowly overtime, in hopes of progressing and maintaining once I've reached my "goal". I don't have a goal number in mind. I'm legitimately more considered with my health than anything, so that's why I'm doing this.

So, that's what is happening so far.

You can expect a health related post every Wednesday and on some Fridays. Fridays will be the working out, fitness side. Wednesdays will be the health and food side. I'll regularly update on my progress, share recipes I've been loving, etc. I will also be featuring other recipes every once in a while, some that are less healthy than others, such as cheat meals, etc. I'll share those on a different day.

I may even post a work-out clothes haul soon as I recently bought a bunch in anticipation of going back to the gym!

Let me know if you're on a weight loss journey as well! I'd love to hear about it!

Thanks for reading!
xx

  1. Good luck to you with your healthy lifestyle choices in 2016! I'm with you in that I never really "diet" but I try to make good choices when I can. I don't think I'd ever be able to give up caffeine 100% though...good for you!

  2. I've cut out soda and I don't even really miss it! I did it when I was pregnant and apart from a taste here and there I don't bother anymore!

    1. Once I go a few weeks without it, I stop missing it too! I'm pretty much to that point now, which is awesome.

  3. I am looking forward to this series! I went on an extreme weight loss journey back in 2010... I was counting calories and working out at the gym 3-4 times a week. I lost 40 pounds but then I met my husband and we love to eat so now all that weight is back AND 30 more pounds too. (To be fair, that also includes going through 2 tragedies, 1 baby to term, and some significant life changing job opportunities.) I thought I was fine until this past two weeks when I popped the seam on my pants. I'm very slowly getting back into it. I'm doing a dance cardio class at the gym but it's only once a week so far. I'm hoping they increase it soon. Additionally, I have been trying to limit my intake (sweets especially) but I'm not diligent or disciplined enough to stop things like cookies or soda. I don't have them a lot but I can't just remove them entirely right now. Anywho, I am really looking forward to reading about your journey!

  4. You sound *just* like me. Nothing worked! Nothing. Until I cut out most carbs and followed a low glycemic diet and then I lost a lot of weight in a decent amount of time.

    Good luck to you!
