There have been a lot of water serum foundation released recently, and today I want to talk about the first one I've tried, Pur Minerals Hydra Fluid Foundation.
Pur minerals foundation review & swatches
I honestly had no idea what to expect from this foundation. I was super excited to try it because I have extremely dry skin and this sounded like just what I need.

I've been wearing this foundation pretty frequently and I feel like I can give it a true review now.
First off, the packaging is a squeeze tube with a pointed tip. This makes it very easy to dispense the amount you need, which is a super small amount.
Foundation Review
As far as application, before dispensing the foundation make sure you shake it up really well because it does separate slightly. I've applied this with a brush, beauty blender and my fingers and the brush works the best. The beauty blender soaks a lot of it up.
The coverage on this varies, depending on how much you apply. One layer will get you light-medium coverage. Enough to even out your skin tone and make you look really healthy. A second layer bumps up the coverage to a strong medium coverage.
It doesn't cake up or look like you're wearing makeup. It sits well on the skin and looks super natural, even on my dry skin. I have very large pores and it doesn't seem to sink into them either, which is a common issue for me. I don't know how much someone with oily skin would like it as it's dewy, but for dry skin this is perfect.
Whether you set it or not is up to you, I find that I don't need to and it sets on its own.
This also lasts all day on me, but as I've mentioned, I have dry skin.
Oh, and it does oxidize a little.
There are 5 shades in this range, which covers light skin tones to deeper skin tones, but it's not all encompassing by any means. The lightest shade is almost too dark for me to use, so that's something to consider.
Swatches are:
Light, Medium, Tan, Dark, Deep.

Overall, I really like this foundation. If you have dry-normal-combo skin, I definitely recommend trying it out. I really think it would work for oily skin as well, as long as you set it.
Here's what it looks like on my skin:

  1. Wow I want to try this foundation. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I have oily skin, and I like this foundation! The lightest shade is kinda too dark for me, but once I blend it in well and set with powder, it's not too noticeable. Also, I absolutely hated how this went on with a brush! :/ I had to use my Beauty Blender and then it looked great

    1. I'm glad to hear it works for oily skin! I'll give my Beauty Blender another shot; I've been using the IT Cosmetics Complexion Perfection brush with it as well as the Sigma F84 and they've been working well for me. I do think I need a new Beauty Blender though, so maybe that's why it's not working well for me.

  3. These sound really nice! The spa I used to work at used Pur Minerals and it's such a nice brand :)

    1. I've only tried a few products from Pur Minerals, but so far I'm a fan!

  4. Today's the first day that I've heard about this foundation and now I'm intrigued. I'd be happier if Pur made a lighter shade though.

    1. I wish they had a larger range, for sure!

  5. Sweet! Thanks for the great review!

  6. The coverage looks amazing but bummer about the shade range. Your makeup look is flawless - LOVE the eyeshadow!

    1. I know, I wish the shade range was better! Thank you!

  7. I'm always looking for a better foundation. This looks like it could work.

  8. Sounds good but the light shade would be too dark for me!

    1. I feel like they need to extend the range, for sure. The light shades just aren't light enough!
