No matter how much money you do or do not have, saving money is never a bad thing. Today I'm going to share a few tips with you on how to save money this holiday season.
The holiday season is a time where everyone spends way too much money. And there's nothing wrong with that. Here are a few ways to help that money stretch even further.
How to Save Money
  • Go Black Friday shopping. If you're willing to put up with the crowds, you can capitalize on some crazy deals.
  • Participate in Cyber Monday sales. The safer version of black Friday. Save money from home & shop in your pajamas!
  • Buy gift sets and break them up. Gift sets can be a great deal, and are awesome for breaking into a few different gifts, even just to add onto other gifts that need an extra something.
  • Use a cashback program when you shop online, like Ebates. You have no idea how much money this saves you until you use it. You earn cash back on your purchases, and it adds up quick. You can redeem it for gift cards or have them deposit it into your Paypal account.
  • Always search for coupons before shopping, online or otherwise. You can find a ton of coupons that aren't heavily advertised this way and save a few extra bucks.
  • Sign up for rewards programs. This is another good way to save money and sometimes earn freebies. There are also several types of credit cards available that feature cash back and various rewards.
  • Always check the clearance section. There have been many times that I've found awesome things on clearance. Nice, newly released things. It happens and it never hurts to check.
  • Stick to a budget. This can easily keep you from overspending. I struggle with it, but if this is too difficult, see the next tip.
  • When out shopping, only take cash. This can keep you from overspending, for sure.
  • Compare prices before shopping. Always compare prices. Some things you should really purchase online because it will be cheaper, other things you can buy in store and price match, but always compare prices.
  • DIY Christmas gifts. This isn't feasible for everyone, because not everyone has the time. However, if you're planning on buying someone lotion, bath bombs, candies, etc., why not just make them yourself?
  • Don't impulse shop. This always leads to overspending and buying things you don't need. You will end up shopping for yourself, trust me.
  • Don't wait until the last minute to shop. This is the worst. And no, don't do it even if you have Amazon Prime. They have failed me before, they can fail you too and this is not the time that you want that to happen. Last minute shopping leads to desperation and overspending.
  • Send e-cards instead of regular Christmas cards. E-cards are free if you make them yourself, so not only do you not have to physically purchase cards but, no postage!
  • Buy e-gift cards. To go along with saving postage, if you're shopping for someone you won't be seeing this holiday season, why not buy them an e-gift card? No postage and no chance of USPS losing a package, which happens often this time of the year.
  • Secret Santa. Instead of buying gifts for everyone, why not draw names and purchase a gift for one person? It's a great idea if you're short on cash!
That's a few of my money-saving tips for the holiday season.
I really hope this was helpful for you!

If you're shopping online, make sure you sign up for ebates and use it! Seriously! You'll also get a free gift card from them once you sign up and use the account to earn cash back. It's 100% free.
