- Oh Bae
Here are the hand swatches:
(Left to Right, Top to Bottom)
Oh Bae, Obsessed, FBF, Ever After, Addiction, Dutty Wine
As you can tell, they're super pigmented and pretty. When you first apply them, they're kind of shiny, but once they "dry down" they go completely matte but they never quite set.
When I first got them, I thought Oh Bae and FBF would be super similar but they aren't. Dutty Wine and Addiction are almost identical, though so you definitely won't need both. The only difference is Addiction shows up more red on me and Dutty Wine shows up more purple, but in the picture, they look the same.
On the day I did the lip swatches, my lips were pretty dry so they did sink into the cracks of my lips a bit. Normally, they don't do this.
Let's talk about the Chrome Glazes.
The Chrome Glaze is a High Shine Lip Gloss that comes in 6 shades. I have all 6 of these to show you.
The applicators are the same as the applicator on the Velvet Mattes. The Chrome Glazes are also pretty pigmented, which was surprising to me. I didn't expect them to be so pigmented. They're also very reflective.
They're pretty sticky and they do last a while. They stay in place pretty well, but you'll notice in the lip swatches, they do tend to bleed a little and it's super noticeable with the dark shades, so without a lip liner those might be a mess.
We all know lip glosses aren't my jam but I wanted to show these to you anyway, and if you follow me on IG, you've seen me wear these a few times so I do like them as far as lip glosses go. Just remember, lip liner with the darker color or it's going to bleed onto your skin.
- Arm Candy
You can see how that one bled a bit.
Okay, hand swatches:
(Left to Right, Top to Bottom)
Squad, Arm Candy, Heart Breaker, Smarty Pants, DIY, Rebel
And just to really show the shine...
The shine is real. They're really pretty, like, really. DIY looks super light and scary, but it's the one out of the bunch that isn't super pigmented, so it comes out looking more natural.
I also received the On Point Lip Liner in See Thru with these but I forgot to take pictures of it. It's a transparent lip liner and it's also vegan. It does help with the bleeding of lip colors and I really like it, I honestly didn't even think about using it for the lip swatches. It's also Gluten & Paraben free.
Final thoughts: Even though the Velvet Mattes don't dry down completely, I still really like them. I think the colors are pretty and I don't always want something that totally dries down. Some days, my lips need to breathe.
Even though I'm not a huge fan of lip glosses, I like the Chrome Glazes and I can see myself wearing them pretty often this spring and summer. I still prefer my IT Cosmetics gloss, because it isn't sticky at all, but these are in second place for me. I'll definitely get a lot of use out of them, and again, the colors are pretty.
You can grab all of these from PurCosmetics.com for $18 each.
