Urban Decay Complexion

Urban Decay had a huge release for Spring, and it is currently available. There are some new products and some products that were previously available, but now have gorgeous, re-vamped packaging.
The whole idea behind this release is to make a cocktail of products tailored to your specific needs. You can mix and match primers, priming sprays and setting sprays to get the best possible results for you. At the end, I'll show you my personal cocktail of products that I've been using, so you can see what has been working for me. I really love the idea behind this, because everyone has different needs, so it makes sense to think of it this way.
Let's talk about the products in the order you'd use them.
Urban Decay Spring
  • B6 Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep Priming Spray | This spray is meant to absorb oil, reduce shine, & balance your complexion, all while hydrating and prepping your skin with vitamins and antioxidants. You can use it as a priming spray, to refresh your makeup throughout the day without disturbing it, or at night before your skin care routine. From the name you can tell it is loaded with Vitamin B6, but it also contains Vitamin E and Willow Bark. This is good for all skin types AND vegan.
  • Quick Fix Hydra Charged Complexion Prep Priming Spray | This spray is meant to reduce the appearance of pores, brighten & smooth the skin, and moisturize. This can also be used as a priming spray, throughout the day to refresh makeup or at night before your skin care routine. This is loaded with amazing ingredients like vitamin B3, Sepitonic M3, and Coconut Water. It's great for all skin types and it's also vegan.
The packaging for these has been revamped and I love it! The bright green-chartreuse is very eye-catching and I think it was a great choice. My favorite thing about these bottles has always been the pump, because they spray such a fine mist, I never have to worry about my makeup getting destroyed by bad distribution of product, which I appreciate. There are few things worse than being drowned in setting spray or priming spray by a weird spray nozzle.
Next up are the primers, which are totally new.
Urban Decay Primer Review
  • De-Slick Complexion Primer | The De-Slick Primer is an oil absorbing primer that controls shine and keeps your makeup in place all day. It mattifies and reduces the appearance of pores. It's also oil free and paraben free. It contains veegum, aloe vera, and silica.
  • Urban Defense Complexion Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 | The Urban Defense Primer is a primer and sunscreen in one. It's completely clear, reduces the appearance of pores and smooths your complexion. This contains sesame seed extract, tomato fruit extract, squalane, and bisabolol.
  • Optical Illusion Complexion Primer | The Optical Illusion primer is probably going to be your new BFF. It smooths flaws, blurs pores & fine lines, illuminates, giving your skin a soft focus effect. This is the photoshop in a bottle primer, and it's no joke. This one contains argan, rosehip, and meadowfoam seed oils as well as vitamin E. Together they moisturize, condition and give you all the good antioxidant benefits.
  • Self Adjusting Complexion Primer | The Self Adjusting primer is the one that intrigued me the most, because self adjusting products rarely impress me. However, this is a color-correcting primer with encapsulated pigments that adjust to your skin tone. This also fills in fine lines, minimizes pores, and controls shine.

I've been using these primers since I received them, because I wanted to be able to give you my thoughts on them. The De-slick is not one I need at the moment, but will be a godsend in the summer. The Urban Defense is SO good under makeup, I have never had a sunscreen sit well under makeup until now, this one just works. Optical Illusion is life. You will pry it from my cold, dead hands. I use it every time I wear makeup now. We're in a committed relationship. The Self Adjusting Primer is really nice, too. I had my doubts, but it does really well with covering my redness, so on days when it's really bad, I use this with the Optical Illusion, and the redness is gone.
Urban Decay Primer Review

Let's talk about the packaging, because it's amazing. The bottles are sleek and gorgeous. They look so sleek, and I really like that. They have a metallized cap and base, with an airless pump to make sure you get every drop of primer out of those tubes.
I have zero complaints about the primers or the packaging, I really think there's something for everyone.

Let's talk Setting Sprays.
Urban Decay Settng Spray Review

  • All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray | The All Nighter Setting Spray is designed to keep your makeup in place for up to 16 hours. It has patented Temperature Control Technology, which might be one of the coolest things I've ever heard of. Essentially, it's designed to lower the temperature of your makeup to keep it in place. It's free of oil and parabens, and it's vegan.
  • Chill Cooling and Hydrating Makeup Setting Spray | The Chill Setting Spray is meant to not only use the Temperature Control Technology to keep your makeup vibrant and in place for up to 12 hours, but it also is meant to keep your skin hydrated, glowy, and dewy. This is Vegan.
  • De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray | The De-Slick Setting Spray is made to control oil, shine, and keep your skin matte. This setting spray also uses the Temperature Control Technology. This is free of oils, parabens and it's vegan.
I've always loved Urban Decay Setting Sprays. I say always, but I mean, since I tried them a few years ago. I've tried other things, but I always come back to these, specifically All Nighter, but I also love Chill. De-Slick is reserved for very, very hot days in the summer. The Urban Decay Setting Sprays are pretty much a cult favorite at this point, and for good reason. I personally love them and could never recommend them enough.

Let's quickly discuss the packaging, because this post is hella long at this point.

The packaging has been revamped, and is now black with a purple sprayer and white frosted cap. The bottle is soft to the touch. I really like the changes to the packaging, and I think re-vamping the line was a good move on their part, especially since it's been relaunched with new products. I mentioned this with the other bottles, but the sprayer has never let me down, it's always a fine mist, never a tragedy.

So, here's my personal cocktail.
Urban Decay 2017

I prep with the Quick Fix Hydra Charged Complexion Prep Priming Spray, then I prime with the Optical Illusion Primer and the Self Adjusting Primer in the places where I have redness. After I apply my makeup, I finish with the All Nighter Spray.
This has been working very well for me so far, but I know if my skin changes, I'll have other options available.

Hopefully this post will help you find your cocktail!

Thanks for reading!
